FAQs

How do I contact the Crisis Triage Unit?

The Doña Ana Crisis Triage Center can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Call us at (575) 216-4150.

What should I bring with me?

If you think you may be referred for hospitalization, bring a few sets of clothes, as few valuables as possible, and your medications in their original bottles. If needed, we can coordinate with a local pharmacy for a short-term supply or have someone bring them later.

Do I need to call ahead, or can I just come to the Crisis Triage Unit?

Anyone experiencing a mental health crisis can come directly to the Crisis Triage Center. We are located at 1850 B Cooper Loop Drive, Las Cruces, NM, 88005. Come to the main entrance and a crisis staff member will meet with you to determine what services would best fit your needs.

Can I leave and come back?

Yes, the Crisis Triage Center allows patients to sign in and out to stay connected with their community. Unlike hospitalization, the Crisis Triage Center supports maintaining daily activities like work or school, ensuring individuals can meet their commitments.

What if I want to leave?

Our doors remain unlocked from the inside, as everyone here is voluntarily seeking recovery and stability. We will support actions that benefit your health and safety. However, if you pose an immediate threat to yourself or others, we will notify the authorities, just like your outpatient provider would.

How much will this cost?

Those with Medicaid should be fully covered. Clients with commercial insurance might incur copays or deductibles for therapy sessions conducted here. Those without insurance will likely be eligible for free or reduced-cost services.

How long can I stay?

A 23-hour crisis triage center is designed for short-term care, with the goal of stabilizing individuals in a psychiatric crisis within a 23-hour period. As the name suggests, the maximum stay is typically 23 hours, during which the individual receives ongoing assessment and intervention.
